SONORA MAZURÉN

The latest representative of the new alternative tropical scene, Sonora Mazurén is the tropical indie emerald of mountainous and noisy Bogota.

Sonora Mazurén is inspired by Brazilian Tropicalia and tropical retro-futurism and uses synthesizers and electric guitars along with the vallenato accordion and more traditional percussion. Their sound transports audiences to different contexts, from continental cumbia, to the psychedelic chichas of Peru and African fuzz.

ANTTI PAALANEN

Antti Paalanen (born 1977) creates his wild music with the simple accordions of Finnish folk music. Although inspired by tradition, Paalanen has nevertheless created a sonic world of his own, where tradition gives way to trance-like minimalism, EDM-influenced rhythms, Siberian throat singing influences, and controlled and insightful use of modern sound technology.
